Cocktail: New Orleans Milk Punch
You may put your cocktail shaker away from this one and give your arms a break.
This beverage has become a Christmas morning tradition in my family. My mom’s dear friend, Betty Pritchard, wrote this recipe for the 1988 Muscle Shoals Service League cookbook, Cooks and Company. I did make an amendment by tripling the bourbon.
Ingredients and Instructions
Makes six servings
1 ½ cups of milk (at least 2%)
1 ½ cups of half and half
½ cup of crème de cocoa
¾ to 1 cup of bourbon (nothing fancy – save that for sipping)
Combine all ingredients in a pitcher and give them a stir. Pour individual servings over ice.
This cocktail can be made 24 hours ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator.
Playlist
For when you want something jazzy but you need a break from Christmas tunes, I recommend putting Curtis and Curtis on the queue.
